MFT 530 - Clinical Theories of Child Development 3 credits Designed to provide the student with a basic understanding of clinical theories and clinical child development. Class will integrate the physical, social, emotional and cognitive aspects of growth and development and how they manifest intrapsychically and interpersonally. Theoretical material will include elements of ego psychology, object relations, self psychology, attachment theory, and infant and child research. Readings will be taken from the writings of Freud, Klein, Balaint, Winnicott, Bick, Sarnoff, Mahler, Bowlby, Kohut, Erikson, Piaget and Stern among others. Learning tasks will consist of reading and discussion, assigned observation of children, modeling and role playing, and viewing of films. Prerequisite(s): MFT 510
