HD 604 - Praxis: An Ecological Systems Approach

3 credit(s)
This class provides an in-depth look at educational and social service practices using an ecological systems perspective. We will explore the psychosocial interface between child, family and community development, social identity, culture and power in order to transform complex challenges into innovative, inclusive, socially just and sustainable solutions. Students will evaluate the impact on families by practitioners in a variety of settings, synthesizing practice, reflection, theory, observation, and research to develop their own theoretical and methodological framework for working with children and families in a diverse world. Within this context, students will create strategies to be more successful individual. Interpersonal and institutional change agents. Prerequisite(s): HD 507 HD 543 , and HD 562 .  Note: HD 604 may be taken concurrently with HD 562  in on-ground programs.
