Philosophy

The School of Human Development at Pacific Oaks is a multidisciplinary program designed to provide specialized study in growth and change across the lifespan. The learning experiences explore disparities among socio-cultural groups that empower students to effect systemic change.  The program is informed by theories of human development within the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and ecological domains.  Students will develop the skills to critically evaluate the implications of those domains to become practitioners grounded in the principles of social justice, advocacy, respect for diversity and multi-culturalism, and the uniqueness of each person.
