SPED 331 - The Student with Special Needs3 Credit(s)This course prepares candidates to meet the special needs of exceptional students. For the purpose of this course, special needs will apply to any children whose exceptionalities leads to their requiring special attention. Due to change in the CTC standards, children with autism spectrum disorders will be a focus of this course. This course will explore how exceptional groups of learners can be best served in general education using effective instructional strategies, including accommodations, modifications, and differentiated instruction in both inclusive and more restrictive settings. Characteristics of atypical populations will be explored, as well as legal issues and effective teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners. |
